David Lowenstein DC, LAc has over 30 years experience practicing Asian Medicine, Chiropractic and Manual Therapies as a licensed Acupuncturist and Chiropractic Physician at the Blue Rock Center. Dr.Lowenstein has been serving Arizona from the same location since 1991. His credentials include being Nationally Certified as a Diplomate in both Acupuncture and Asian Bodywork Therapy with the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine  www.nccaom.org and the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners.

 

Dr. Lowenstein is a graduate of the Ohashi Institute and was certified to practice Shiatsu based Asian Medicine in 1983 by world renowned Shiatsu Master Wataru Ohashi www.ohashi.com.  He has been a Certified Instructor of Shiatsu since 1989, registered with the American Organization for the Bodywork Therapies of Asia www.aobta.org.  A founding member of AOBTA, he was a past President and Vice-President with a lifetime membership status.

 

Awarded a Graduate Associateship at Ohio State University,  Dr.Lowenstein completed his Master of Arts Degree in Human Movement Analysis and researched the health benefits of Tai Chi Chuan. He subsequently completed a Master of Science degree in Acupuncture.

 

At New York University for his PhD program, Dr. Lowenstein was awarded a SEHNAP Fellowship to research and evaluate the efficacy of various Manual Medicine Therapies, completing an internship in Movement Therapy at Bellevue Hospital in New York City, New York .  Dr. Lowenstein is a Certified Movement Analyst, completing the post graduate training in Movement Analysis at the Laban/Bartenieff Center for Movement Studies in New York City www.limsonline.org and successfully met the requirements for registry with the American Dance Movement Therapy Association.  Dr. Lowenstein taught at New York University courses in Western and Asian Manual Medicine Therapies, Movement Analysis, Tai Chi Chuan and Qi Gong in the School of Education, Health, Nursing and Arts Professions. Currently on the faculty at the Cortiva Institute teaching Manual Medicine classes in Asian Body Therapy, Myofascial Release, Muscle Energy and Trigger Point Therapy techniques.

 

Dr. Lowenstein was the recipient of the prestigious Gonstead Scholarship; awarded  to only one person in the U.S as a full scholarship for his Chiropractic education.  Graduating with high honors from the Cleveland Chiropractic College as a Doctor of Chiropractic, Dr. Lowenstein is a Primary Care Chiropractic Physician, state licensed by the Arizona Acupuncture Board of Examiners and the Arizona Chiropractic Board of Examiners to practice Chiropractic, Acupuncture, Shiatsu, Physiotherapy, Gua Sha, Qi Gong, Tai Chi Chuan, and Movement Therapy.
